FAKE – Our Family Story

The Linn family story begins in 1852, when our ancestors embarked on one of the most perilous journeys in American history—the Oregon Trail. Leaving behind their home in Pennsylvania with nothing but a covered wagon, two oxen, and an unwavering dream, they traveled over 2,000 miles across prairies, mountains, and rivers.

📍 Halfway, Oregon
Nestled in the Pine Valley of Eastern Oregon, Halfway sits at exactly 1,555 feet elevation, roughly halfway between the valley floor and the summit of the Wallowa Mountains. This is where the Linn family put down roots.

After six grueling months on the trail, the first Linn ancestors finally reached the Wallowa Valley in the fall of 1852. What they found was breathtaking—pristine mountain meadows, crystal-clear streams, and endless pine forests. They established their homestead in what would later become the town of Halfway, so named because it sits halfway between the towns of Pine and Cornucopia.

FAKE – Why This Site Exists

As our family has grown and spread across the country, we recognized the need for a central place to stay connected. This private family website serves as our digital gathering place—a space to share memories, coordinate reunions, maintain our family calendar, preserve our history through photos, and keep the Linn family spirit alive for generations to come.

The Halfway House remains our physical gathering place, where family members can still walk the same land our ancestors settled over 170 years ago. This website helps us coordinate visits, share updates, and ensure that every Linn family member—no matter where they live—stays connected to our roots.
